Me Made May: Week 2

in What I Wear on 05/21/20

For week one and what Me Made May is go here.

Here is the collection of what I wore for week two of #MeMadeMay2020.

May 8th – Paper Bag Skirt

A simple paper bag skirt and t-shirt. I threw a silky scarf on to add some flair.

May 9th – Lark Tee

We went on a walk around our neighborhood and held onto tiny flowers that Ezra gave us. We looked at and smelled the roses. We said hello to people outside. It was wonderful! My handmade garment today is the Grainline Studio Lark Tee made with a french terry from Joann and once again I threw a scarf on.

May 10th – McCalls 7974

Happy Mother’s Day! I am so grateful for my mother, mother-in-law, and mother figures I have had in my life. They all helped prepare me for my own motherhood. I am grateful to be the mother of two lovely daughters that I pray become mother’s themselves.

This dress is McCall’s 7974 made in a gorgeous Joann fabric.

May 11th – My Barbie Skirt

My Barbie skirt is my tried-and-true McCall 6706. Fabric is from Joann. The top layer is sheer so I underlined it with pink and white polka dotted cotton. My top is from J.Crew Factory, but you can recreate it with the Lark Tee pattern and my scalloped neckline tutorial.

May 12th – New Pajama Top

The top of my Carolyn Pajamas is finally complete. I am so happy with how it turned out. It took a month to put together. It wasn’t hard to sew, it just didn’t hold my attention for long stretches of time. The true reason is that sewing pajamas isn’t as exciting as a dress/skirt for me. This will likely never see the outside world because I do not go out in public in pajamas, but I continued on because I want to wear this elegant pajama set on Sunday mornings. It is so beautiful and soft. The cotton lawn is from Mood Fabrics in L.A. The excellent pattern is by Closet Case Patterns.

May 13th – Skirt Repeat

I wore this skirt in week one and again in week two. I love this skirt, obviously. Here is the skirt tutorial! The sweater is from J.Crew.

May 14th – Birthday Cake Sweater

I am wearing my “Birthday Cake” sweater that I knit a few years ago with a store-bought dress that I call my confetti dress, so I am ready for a party!

That’s it for week two! Week three coming soon.

Beach Visit Week 3. My goal is to go to the beach Beach Visit Week 3. My goal is to go to the beach every week this year. Today we went after dark in the sprinkling rain. The sand was so cold on our feet. It was so quiet and peaceful. We played tag and ran around. It released some stress after an INCREDIBLE milk spill in the dining room. 😂 We are ready for the Sabbath now.

I have three words that I use to describe my perso I have three words that I use to describe my personal style: GARDEN, HEIRLOOM, & SASSY. When I make or buy something I ask if it fits in one or more of those descriptors. If it does, I welcome it into my wardrobe or home. There is a small margin for practically, but I want to stay in the style zone that makes me feel like me. This cardigan was a wild experiment. An experiment that falls into all three categories; a garden color palette, heirloom quality of crochet (my great grandma was an avid granny square crocheter, and it is so sassy (sparkles and flashy buttons). I'm so excited to show more soon.
