Sewing a Girls Dress

in Sewing Tutorial on 01/25/24

In the fall I wanted to make myself and my daughters a new dress. One of them wanted a blue knit dress… You got it! For the other, I decided it would be fun to make a dress matching mine. I ordered our fabrics from Fashion Fabrics Club. The pattern I used for my dress is Vogue 8896 and I have a full tutorial for it in a green velvet. For this tutorial, I’ll be using McCalls 6915.

I mostly used my serger in the construction of this dress, but if you don’t have a serger you can still make a knit dress. Use one of the stretch stitches on your sewing machine. You don’t even have to finish the raw edge of the fabric. It won’t look as professional, but it won’t unravel either. If you want to polish up the raw edges then use a wide zigzag stitch or an overcast stitch.

Check out my Amazon Storefront where I have all my sewing tools rounded up in one spot for easy reference at any time.
